WhatsApp: Worth It or Not?

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia and yes, those phones can all message each other! Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends.

In addition to basic messaging WhatsApp users can create groups, send each other unlimited images, video and audio media messages.

Has anyone used the app? It seems good–but I’d like to know how useful and practical it really is. Thoughts?

  1. I “text” with international friends I’ve met along the way all the time with WhatsApp. Even have a running group convo with some folks I met 1.5 years ago in the Dominican Republic. Can be used on wifi, so it’s how I stay in touch with folks when I’m abroad.

    1. Thanks for your comment. I’m going to Florence in a month, and I was considering using it. So it’s nice to hear someone who has actually used it.
